A little more than a week after we contacted Tampa Bay Pools (http://www.tampabaypools.com/) about our failed attempt at getting Outdoor Impressions to honor their warranty, we have a nicely finished coping job.

Outdoor Impressions
Update:
Well, just as Tampa Bay Pools promised (http://www.tampabaypools.com/), one of their skilled artisans showed up bright and early this morning to fix the installation by Outdoor Impressions.
Our problems from the Outdoor Impression's installation were bigger than we thought and it looks like almost 50 of our coping bricks will be replaced.
The Tampa Bay Pools men made quick work of removing the bad coping installed by Outdoor Impressions and after a few hours, we had something we hadn't had in a long time - coping that wasn't cracking, splitting and falling into the pool leaving jagged, sharp edges.
Actually, I don't know if I was happier with their work or the fact that they tuned their radios to music from the 80's...! They were polite, quick and looking at it now, their work is amazing. I'll post pictures tomorrow.
Thank you Tampa Bay Pools for fixing Outdoor Impression's problem.

Outdoor Impressions
Update: Monday, April 11, 2011
It's been less than a week since we officially kicked Outdoor Impressions off of the job. Actually, I think Outdoor Impressions quit. But that's not really important anymore.
In less than I week, I've found an installer (thank you Tampa Bay Pools) to fix the problem left with us by Outdoor Impressions and late last week ordered correct, replacement bricks direct from the manufacturer. (Over the course of three months, Outdoor Impressions managed two return calls and one order for incorrect bricks) This morning I received the correct bricks.
Six days.

Outdoor Impressions
Update...
We continued our search today for someone to fix the paver problem left with us by Outdoor Impressions. Our mission was twofold: 1 - find the correct pavers and, 2 - find someone to install them. (Note: Outdoor Impressions gave us the wrong color stones)
We contacted Tampa Bay Pools (http://www.tampabaypools.com/) and spoke to Dan McKenna over the last couple of days. It was amazing how prompt and courteous he was in calling me back and updating me along the way while he sent his project manager to the house. The PM was on top of the job - I'll say that. He knew what needed to be done and he knew how to do it.
And just another "feather" for the Tampa Bay Pools cap - he's going to get this job done in the next week. Outdoor Impressions was able to manage one visit and a couple of phone calls over three months.
So we have an installer and I went to work getting the bricks. I contacted Tremron (the brick maker). I encountered so many nice people who went way beyond what they should have done. People were returning calls, they were making calls on my behalf... It was nice venting about how bad Outdoor Impressions was too!
In the end, we have pavers on their way and an installer set for next week!!! I'll let you know how it goes!

Outdoor Impressions
Complaint filed with Better Business Bureau.
No real surprise that Outdoor Impressions is NOT an accredited member of the BBB.
No real surprise that Outdoor Impressions is NOT an accredited member of the BBB.
Bad first impression, bad second impression...just plain bad
I don't think I've ever used my blog to air a complaint. I might have made a few subtle references. I might have even made some hidden references. And between my business and personal world, I could have filled volumes. I've tried to maintain a light, family friendly blog.
Until now. And only in this one instance will I take advantage of this little soap box I've created and tell you a story about Outdoor Impressions, Valrico, FL. ( www.outdoorimpressions.net )
And while many of you will never seek out Outdoor Impressions, Brandon, FL, others will. And by mentioning Outdoor Impressions, Valrico, FL in my blog, my good friends at Google will see to it that when someone does search for Outdoor Impressions, Valrico, FL, my story will appear somewhere.
We hired Outdoor Impressions, Valrico, FL to put pavers on our pool deck. For the most part, it wasn't a bad job. Outdoor Impressions, Valrico, FL hired out some very talented masons. Our problems with Outdoor Impressions really came at the end of the job...AFTER they had our money.
We found our way through the problems we had with Outdoor Impressions by hiring another company to come clean up the problem left with us by Outdoor Impression.
Fast forward a year and a half. We have pavers around the pool's perimeter that Outdoor Impressions, Brandon, FL installed that are cracking. We have about 25 coping bricks with a growing crack. In two separate locations. In one location, in fact, the pavers installed by Outdoor Impressions have broken away and fallen into the pool.
We did what anyone would try and do... get Outdoor Impressions, Valrico, FL to honor their warranty. It took three months. Over which time, they came and took pictures and ordered replacement bricks. When it came down to getting the labor done, Outdoor Impressions did what they do best - quit returning phone calls and started making excuses.
We eventually went by the Outdoor Impression's offices and were offered nothing but excuses and lies. I said I'd be just as happy to have the pavers and I'd find someone to install them. I was shown through the back door of the Outdoor Impression offices and left to load them myself. No apologies, no assistance.
It's not a total tragedy - my pool will be just fine after a few phone calls. I'll find someone to clean up the mess left by Outdoor Impressions, Valrico, FL. I will do what I can to make sure anyone who hopes to hire Outdoor Impressions knows about my story. I know of a few of the Outdoor Impression suppliers to whom I can write a scalding letter.
The Outdoor Impressions website ( http://www.outdoorimpressions.net/ ) has on it a Mission Statement: "Outdoor Impressions will strive to be a company that you can build a lasting relationship with. We promise to be trustworthy and honest, and handle your project with the utmost respect. We will always hold the quality and craftmanship of our jobs priority to ensure a truly lasting Impression for your home."
First, they did not "strive" and they certainly made a "lasting" impression. I can't speak to their "trustyworthiness" but I can say they were less than honest. And finally, I strongly disagree with their definition of "utmost respect".
So if you've found my little internet "soap box", I hope my review is helpful. If you have any questions, please email me... vince.belcher@verizon.net
